Press article dated 15 May 1909 reporting the death of Lt-Col James Miller who died aged 80. His widow was Sarah Dorothy Miller, responsible for the Merry Bells. His sons were Colonel Alfred Douglas Miller and James William Miller. In today's terms his estate was worth at least £20million.
The rainwater goods show a date of 1718.
