New residents' parking permit scheme from 1st October 2024 affecting parking in High Street.

Under the scheme, High Street residents may buy permits, one per person but limited to two per houshold at a cost of £70 per year. This permit allows the holder to park in any of the existing parking locatioins in High Street, other than outside the parade of shops, subject to space being available. In these locations, other drivers may also park subject to a 2-hour limit. Outside the parade of shops, parking is restriced to one hour. In Bell Lane, parking is only available to permit holders. Blue Badge holders do not need to have a parking permit. Permits with be virtual (which means that you do not have to wait for a paper permit nor do you have to display anything in the vehicle. Those who buy permits will also receive 25 visitor permits, which will be automatically sent to them, with a second set being available on application and at a cost of £25 after six months. The same arrangements apply for future years. The scheme will be enforced using portable data devices which will enable them to check which vehicles hold a virtual permit.
