Merry Bells and Post Office/shop
New post office (93 High Street) opening 30th Jan 2017. Account from Oxford Mail of Wheatley Post Office moving premises to old Barclay's Bank site 93, High Street, from 107 High Street (home of Neil and Anette MacCormack), Photo of Neil MacCormack and Frances Houghton and account.
A few days later, Paula Vennells, Post Office CEO, and others paid a visit. Paula Vennells has since been at the heart of the Horizon programme debacle.
This was part of the garden of 93/95 High Street. In 1972, a single storey building was erected as a branch of Barclays Bank (previously at 48 High Street). This later became a two storey building for the bank and, in 2017, the branch closed leaving the village without a bank but the Post Office moved here from 107 High Street with a gift shop entitled The Old Bank. see 1251
